A free database is available at http://www.matweb.com/ You can perform modal analysis with large deformation effects in ANSYS Workbench with the use of a command object. The procedure is: Set up a linear modal analysis as usual, with a Frequency Finder result object under Solution. Then, under Environment, insert a command object in the model tree and paste in the following commands: !++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ! Commands for including large deformation in modal analysis. n_modes=ARG1 ! Set Input Argument ARG1 to the number of modes fini /solu ! Perform static analysis with large deformations antyp, stat nlgeom,on ematcreate, yes solve upcoord,1,on ! Modify geometry fini /solu ! Perform modal analysis antyp, modal modopt, lanb, n_modes psolve, triang psolve, eiglanb fini /solu ! Expand modes expass,on mxpand psolve, eigexp *abbr, solve, alls ! Suppress Workbench's SOLVE command !+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Nothing needs to be changed from case to case other than specifying ARG1 to give the number of modes. It should be thesame as the number of modes set in the Frequency Finder. ==================================================================== MEDESO Group Medeso AB has been marketing and selling leading software for mechanical analysis since 1987 and has been a full line ANSYS reseller since early 1998. We work with stress analysis, mainly the Finite Element Method (FEM), motion analysis, computational fluid dynamics and different types of piping and pressure vessel analysis. A few years ago we expanded our field of competence to low and high frequency electromagnetics. Medeso Oy was started 2001 to strengthen Medeso's local presence and is led by our office manager Pekka Mölkänen. Approximately a year ago, Medeso AB set up an office in Sandvika Norway, to serve our Norwegian and Danish customers.
