  • ANSYS has held, and will continue to hold Webex online presentations of various product features. These presentations are archived and can be downloaded from the ANSYS Customer Portal. Log in to the portal and choose Product Information > Webex presentations from the left side of the screen.
     
  • ANSYS Solutions Magazine, a brand new magazine from ANSYS will be launched shortly, ANSYS Advantage. ANSYS Advantage will replace the ANSYS Solutions and Fluent News magazines. Stabilization feature
ANSYS v11 features a new command STABILIZE for simplifying convergence of difficult nonlinear problems. Basically it adds artificial dampers at nodes. Download an example model here consisting of a simple beam with nonlinear buckling where convergence is made much easier with this new feature. In Workbench, it is not directly accessible from menus but can be used with a command object.

Initial contact information in Workbench
A new feature in Workbench v11 is that you can view the initial contact status without performing a solution. To use this, mark the "Connections" branch in the model tree and insert a Contact Tool. Then right-click on the contact tool and choose "Generate Initial Contact Results". The program will then list such properties as the initial status of the contacts, gaps, penetration. This is a useful tool for visualizing the connection of parts in an assembly, without having to perform a full solution.
