Implied DO-loops in ANSYS Classic

DO-loops are very useful, even essential, for some tasks in ANSYS Classic.
However there are times when a much faster alternative is to use so-called implied loops.

Here is an example where we create ten nodes numbered 1,2,...,10 at positions
(x,y,z) = (0.5, 0.2, 0), (0.6, 0.4, 0), ... (1.4, 2, 0).
In a regular DO-loop, we can write it this way:
*do, i, 1,10
n, i, 0.4+0.1*i, 0.2*i, 0
*enddo

We can instead write it with an implied loop like this:
n, (1:10:1), (0.5:1.4:0.1), (0.2:2:0.2), 0

Here is another example. Suppose that we have two 5x1 arrays nn and uu and we wish to set
a displacement uu(i) in the y direction for node nn(i) for i=1,...,5.
Instead of writing
*do, i,1,5
d, nn(i), uy, uu(i)
*enddo
we can write
d, nn(1:5:1), uy, uu(1:5:1)
